CS04 → Pabst Blue Ribbon

Description In early 2023 Pabst Blue Ribbon approached Molloy looking for a full circle rollout. One furniture/installation based item, an event to showcase this installation, and collaborative products that can be sold as e-commerce.

Phase 1: Table TennisFinding a functional piece of furniture that embodied this legacy brand led us to land on a ping-pong table. Pabst has ping-pong balls and paddles for a certain beer drinking related game which sparked the idea. In Sam’s signature style of acrylic mixed with concrete he developed a regulation size ping pong table with accompanying laser engraved acrylic ping pong paddles.

Phase 2: Event
The table was debuted at the tattoo studio, The Secret Door, in Brooklyn, New. The space offered ample room for attendees to engage and play on the table, a mini ramp for skateboarding, live music, and plenty of beer. 12 tattoo artists also provided custom flash sheets with their artistic takes on cinder blocks and beer cans giving over 40 tattoos that night. More than 100 people circled through the evening.

Phase 3: Recycling Program During the event everyone who indulged in the beer provided by Pabst was urged to “recycle” them in the various bins set out with directions. After culling 150 cans they were sterilized and washed then turned into “Empties.” A series of unique candles  each hand dipped into concrete and filled with eucalyptus fragranced soy wax. Making a typically discarded item into a home good for Pabst lovers sold online. These candles were recently featured in Forbes.
